What is a life cast?

A highly detailed, three-dimensional copy of a living person's body part or whole body, created by applying a molding material (alginate, silicone, plaster...) and then filling the mold with a casting substance (plaster, resin, bronze...), which can preserve anatomical detail, creating unique keepsakes or artistic pieces.

The most common life casts are 3D hand casting, casting of torsos (breasts), pregnant bellies, faces, and genitalia.

A keepsake: making a mold of your hand, or holding hands with a loved one. A belly casting of a pregnancy. Do you have beautiful lips you want to send someone?

Available in a variety of materials and colors.

If you are in the Denver, CO region and interested in having a mold (known as a life cast) made from your face, hand or any body part:

Because everyone is of a different size, and materials cost fluctuates, I am unable to post pricing. I will quote you a price when you contact me about your specific interest.

I typically make the mold using skin-safe silicone. That mold is one you keep to make more copies in the future should you want a different color or to share with others.

A less expensive mold can be made using alginate: it can only be used once but does create just as much detail and quality as a multi-use silicone mold.
