Some call it a Body Casting: it is a highly detailed, three-dimensional copy of a person's body, created by applying a molding material (alginate, silicone, plaster...) and then filling the mold with: plaster, resin, bronze, etc.
The most common life casts are: hands, breasts, pregnant bellies and face.
However, you may do what you want: just your lips or an ear or nose, a full body, private region, back, a leg, etc...

Always check with your doctor. I have provided doctors with details of materials used, along with the process, and every time they have approved of life casting.

It is not painful. It does feel heavy with the weight of silicone and plaster. A full head or chest may get you a bit sweaty since the molding material does not "breathe".
A life cast captures every detail.
If having your chest, pelvis or foot cast: while on your way over, it is best not to be wearing anything with an elastic band, or
otherwise tight fitting, which may leave an impression in the skin.
Bra straps, underwear and socks can leave imprints that will show up in the life cast.
If casting your head, I will put a bald cap on you to protect your hair.
The silicone I use has a release agent mixed in to minimize any problem with short body hairs, such as eyebrows and eyelashes.
For long beards, excessive chest & arm hair, pubic hairs, etc... I will give you a release cream to protect the hair from sticking within the mold.
In spite of all protective measures taken, a few hairs may stick. I will do my best to prevent any pulling, but it is possible that a stray hair here-or-there might be pulled out.
Most individuals getting a full head life cast are cosplayers who don't need the hair in the final piece as they are using the head as a mannequin to make masks.
Otherwise, there are two options:
In the most common way, I create a sculpture of your hair separately, that is cast and molded into the finished piece. That, of course, is an extra cost but will look close to natural.
A second way would be to coat your hair with a release agent and hope for the best.
There is a risk of hair getting trapped in the mold and the hair styling might be messed up by the application of the release agent.
I do not recommend the second way.
When you first contact me, let me know what you have so I am aware of any potential concerns; we can discuss them before proceeding.
Piercings: these are generally not a problem. If the earrings or other piercings are simple posts with a gem, those can usually work well.
If the piercing has something that dangles, as with gems, a hanging chain or hoops, that might not work so well.
Jewelry: If you're casting your hand and are wearing rings, that is usually okay.
Guages: Let me know you have ear gauges, but I can work with that as well.
Aboslutely! They may even document the process for you on your phone or theirs with photos and video.
Certainly. I can take photos and/or video of the progress using your phone or with my camera and send you the photos and/or video; usually sent to you that same day.
I will never post or exhibit images from your session unless you grant permission in writing.
Most of the time, yes. Let me know what you have in mind and we can go over the possibilites.
A full head takes about 45-60 minutes. A hand or foot takes about 10 minutes. When we discuss your project I can provide a time estimate.
If the mold is silicone, yes. Alginate molds can only be used once.
Casting the finished piece can take anywhere from two days up to two weeks for it to be ready for pickup.
Yes. I can ship within the continental United States. You will have to pay for shipping.
Yes, if it is silicone. Alginate molds are broken apart to demold the finished piece. The silicone mold is yours to keep and take with you. I do not hold or store molds.
Because each project is unique, and materials cost fluctuate, I am unable to post pricing.
I will quote you a price when you contact me about your specific interest.
In general, something small, like lips or a single hand or foot, will be around $50 and up, depending on type of mold and finished material.
Larger pieces, such as a torso or full head, will start around $150 and go up from there, again, depending on size, type of mold and finished material.
Pricing depends on size of area being cast, materials used, selected finish and current materials costs.
